Water Dreamingby Zyanne Napangardi Presley
The site depicted in this painting is Puyurru. In the usually dry creek beds are water soakages or naturally occurring wells. The owners of this Dreaming are the Nangala and Nampijinpa women and the Jangala and Jampijinpa men. Two Jangala's, rain-makers, sang the rain, unleashing a giant storm. It travelled from East to West with a Termite Dreaming. At Warlura, a gecko named Yumariyumari blew the storm away. Bolts of lightning shot out at Wirnpa and at Karnaraji. The Water Dreaming built hills at Ngamangama using baby clouds and also stuck long pointy clouds into the ground at Jukajuka where they can still be seen today.
