Gumnut Necklaceby Ninuku Artists
This beautiful and feminine necklace is decorated using purple and pink paint with bright orange/yellow dot work and black lines. The necklace measures 37cm and is made up of Gumnut seed shells. These are collected by the artists at Ninuku Arts and painted, then a hole is burnt in the end to thread the wire or elastic to make the necklace.

Central Art is excited to be working directly with Ninuku Arts and their artists to showcase their stunning beaded jewellery through our website and art boutique. Ninuku Arts is an Indigenous owned and governed Art Centre which supports artists from two communities - Pipalyatjara and Kalka. Both communities are located in the far north-western corner of South Australia, near the tri-state border of South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory. The two communities, fourteen kilometres apart, are surrounded by the rolling, rocky hills of the Tomkinson Ranges and are part of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. Both Kalka and Pipalyatjara are peaceful places. This is a result of strong governance, cultural engagement and pride among local Anangu.
