Mina Minaby Mary Napangardi Gallagher

The painting printed on this scarf is titled Mina Mina Jukurrpa and depicts the Dreaming of the journey of a group of Warlpiri women who travelled across the desert collecting Ngalyipi (Snake Vine). The Ngalyipi vine has long been collected and used by Warlpiri women for sacred ceremonies. The vine has medicinal properties.

Artist

Mary Napangardi Gallagher was born in Napperby, a community approximately 120km from Papunya in Central Australia. She relocated as a young woman with her family to Yuendumu Community approximately 300km from Alice Springs in Central Australia. Mary has been painting with Warlukurlangu Artists since 2006 and paints her fathers Dreaming stories which relate to Pikilyi - a large waterhole in the Warlpiri homelands. Mary's artworks have been exhibited in Australia and internationally in the USA, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
