Untitledby Evelyn YoungThe cover of this note book is an reproduction image of an artwork by Aboriginal artist Josette Young. The design refers to waterhole, wild flowers, bush seeds, Dreaming sites and many other significant elements connected to the artists country of Ltyentye Apurte in central Australia. |
ArtistEvelyn Young Perrurle was born on the 24th July 1969 in Yambah country in Central Australia. She lives at Ltyentye Apurte, an Aboriginal community one hour from Alice Springs. Evelyn is an Eastern Arrernte person and her Dreamings include Apmwe (Snake) and Kwatye (Rain). Evelyn is an established Keringke Artist and has worked with the Keringke Arts Centre in Santa Teresa from a number of years. Her painting style is in keeping with a Keringke style, in that bright and vibrant colours are used to depict intricate fine patterning. Her paintings depict the land, flora and fauna, and spiritual connections which are seen and unseen in her environment. Her paintings are extremely delicate and appear almost like lace. Typically Evelyn’s choice of medium is acrylic paints on canvas however she has become well known of her exceptional work with ceramics and the designs that she uses on the ceramic is just as intricate and detailed as what she would produce on canvas. Since 1998 Evelyn has participated in many group exhibitions around Australia through her work with the Keringke Art Centre and her works are held in their permanent collection. She has also had her artworks and designs china and journal covers. Whilst Central Art does not have any of her artworks we are pleased to be able to bring you a glimpse of her talent through her blank journal covers which we have available for sale through our Gift Store. If you are looking for a bright, vibrant and detailed aboriginal painting, Evelyn certainly fits the profile. Her artworks clearly show her talent and steady hand. |
