BiographyChristine Brumby was born in Areyonga Community and grew up in Docker River, but now lives in Mutitjulu Community with her extended family, near her father's traditional lands. Christine comes from a long line of artists, and is both a talented artist and experienced tour guide. Through her tours and paintings, Christine enjoys sharing the stories of her country with visitors to Uluru. During her tours, Christine shows tourists the cave paintings around Uluru, and explains how her family a long time ago would paint symbols and images from the Tjukurpa using ochre pigments. Christine says they used to only have four colours with these natural pigments, but now with acrylic paint, the palette is much more vibrant! Building on these cave painting traditions and incorporating her own unique style, Christine enjoys expressing the Tjukurpa stories of the region through her paintings at Walkatjara Art. She paints the stories of the Mala people, Kuniya and Liru, and the story of Seven Sisters. These stories have been passed on to her from her family. |
