Dry River Bedby Andrew Highfold TjupurrulaThis painting depicts the dry creek beds that can be found throughout the artist's homeland. Creek beds are sacred to Aboriginal people and they have cultural obligations to care and protect the country. The small roundels depicted represent rock-holes. Aboriginal people have intimate knowledge of these rock-holes which often provide food sources and water. Dreaming tracks for stories are often located along the creek and river beds. |
